Why You’ll Love This Recipe

  • Naturally flavored with real pistachios
  • Customizable to your desired sweetness level
  • Budget-friendly compared to store-bought or café versions
  • Perfect for coffee, tea and desserts

I used roasted and salted pistachios however, if you don’t want your syrup to have a slightly salty taste to it, just use unsalted pistachios. Although, I personally love the sweet and salty combination!

I also bought pistachios that were still in the shell and just shelled them myself because the were double the price already shelled and it didn’t probably take me 5 minute to shell them. So that is another thing you might want to know.

How to Make Pistachio Syrup at Home

This recipe makes right over 1 cup of syrup and takes less than 20 minutes from start to finish.

Step 1: Chop the Pistachios

If you bought pistachios with the shell, go ahead and shell them. Then roughly chop the pistachios to help release more of their flavor into the syrup.

Step 2: Simmer

In a small saucepan, combine the water, sugar, and chopped pistachios. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for about 8 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Step 3: Strain

Remove the saucepan from heat. Strain the syrup through a fine mesh strainer or cheesecloth into a clean jar or bottle. Add in almond extract and mix.

Step 4: Cool & Store

Allow the syrup to cool to room temperature before sealing. Store in the fridge for up to 2 weeks.
